[he doesn't live too far from the cat cafe. he shows up about a half hour later]

[He opens the door up to him.]

Just can't get enough of me, huh.

[A tease as he steps aside for him to enter. The place is kinda small. There's some posters hung about, notebooks, music memorabilia and knickknacks all about. His desktop and sound system are in his room, but he's got a laptop out in the living room and a tv. The kitchen is pretty simple, but as he stated there is beer and some cheap convenience store food he's picked up too.

Looks like he is in the middle of painting his nails.]

Wanna pick a color?

[He grabs a beer on his way in. The monkey has been left at home for the night. Without even looking at the colors available:]

Red.

Make yourself comfortable.

[Pulling out the red and setting up.]

How was your gramps doing? I bet he was happy to see you.

He's never been happy to see me.

[flops on down]

He makes more blind jokes than I do, for the record. You could say he has a dark sense of humor.

[Snorts]

So what are you doing now that we're back and people are acting like blockheads? Just gonna work in the meantime?

Not just, but I have been presented with some opportunities I'd be remiss to let pass. Ironically, I do appear to have gotten some of the attention I'd hoped for back when I thought the performances were fake. So I plan to use that to my benefit.

[In contrast, Forte sighs, looking a bit down.]

Yeah? I'm glad to hear it. I haven't been so lucky. Two of my three jobs fired me. Said they couldn't keep the positions for me for an indefinite amount of time without knowing when I'd be back. And I get it, too.

My band also moved on for the same reasons. It sucks, you know? Cuz I've been working my ass off for a long time.

[He takes a swig of his drink and then prompts Flamingo to hold out his hand.]

So I need to figure some things out. Probably talk to Gray, though I'm kinda reluctant to. And I know if I finally sign up for a contract, I'm gonna be a bitch to work with. Cuz I'm not changing my style or image. I'm writing all my own music too.

"Luck" has nothing to do with it. You make your own success in show business, and working your ass off is a prerequisite, not a deciding factor.

[holds out his hand]

Your first mistake was relying on other people. The trick is to make them rely on you.

Yeah, well its their fucking loss. At least the band. I'm way fucking better.

[Holding his hand to begin his first nail.]

It'll serve 'em right when I'm up in lights and they're still shitting in a dump.

That's the spirit. We actually are pretty famous, y'know. The options are there if you go looking for them.

And I wouldn't say no to a dramatic soundtrack while I do my stunts.

Though unless I get a band in the interim, I'm gonna have to pre-record the soundtrack and sing and play the guitar portions live.

You sure? Now's the best possible time for an image change, you know.

My image is so fucking cool, there ain't no way I'm changing it now. I've carefully crafted it all this time.
